People magazine names 2024’s Sexiest Man Alive

Mel Gibson was People magazine’s first ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’ Here’s who else has taken the title.
People magazine’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive is John Krasinski.
The pick was announced Tuesday night during “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Krasinski, an actor, writer and director, starred in “The Office” before launching the “Quiet Place” franchise and leading the action series “Jack Ryan.” He takes the crown from actor Patrick Dempsey, 2023’s Sexiest Man Alive.

Krasinski, 45, told People that his immediate reaction to the honor was “just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts.” He said he thought he might be getting pranked.
His claim to fame was playing the floppy-haired, lanky Jim on the U.S. version of the mockumentary “The Office,” before transitioning into the clean-cut, muscular action star on Amazon’s “Jack Ryan.”

Krasinksi also co-wrote, directed and starred in “A Quiet Place,” which has grown into a three-film franchise, and created the short-lived but immensely popular pandemic-era webseries “Some Good News.”
Earlier this year, he debuted his sixth directorial effort, “IF,” a film about imaginary friends that also featured his wife, actor Emily Blunt.
Now that he’s been named Sexiest Man Alive, he said Blunt has to make good on her promise to plaster the magazine cover as wallpaper in their home.
